SUMMARY:Alborn EP Release Party in the Redstone Room at Common Chord
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Alborn’s EP “Push” release party with special guests Discrepancies\, Widow7\, & QC’s own The Forty Twos. Along with I-Rock 93.5FM\n\n\n\n Doors: 6pm / Show: 7pm \nTickets: $12 first 50 purchasers / $15 in advance / $18 day of show \nHeadliner: Alborn \nSpecial Guests: Discrepancies\, Widow7\, The Forty Twos \nAge Restriction: All ages\, (Under 19 must be accompanied by an adult) \nWeb: \nhttps://www.albornmusic.com/ \nGenre: Octane Rock / Alternative Metal \nAll tickets are general admission. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee a seat. \n\n\n\nFormed in 2016\, Northern Illinois-based alternative metal band Alborn consists of Justin Taylor \, Alex Raser \, Zame Lewis \, and Nate Guske . Their sound has been compared to Deftones or a heavier version of Alice in Chains. But\, make no mistake\, Alborn has created something unique\, hard\, and melodic. \nAlborn released their debut EP\, “Imperative” in 2020. Follow-up singles “Full Circle”\, “Cause to Create” and “Hindsight” took them through 2021 and had initial success\, including Spotify’s “Rock Hard” playlist\, SiriusXM Octane\, Music Choice\, as well as terrestrial radio rotation. \nThe band went on to play every live show they could\, having huge success in sharing stages with the likes of Shinedown\, Sevendust\, Buckcherry\, Adelitas Way\, Badflower\, Gemini Syndrome\, Plush\, and others. \nEntering 2022\, the band was invited to again join Sevendust and Plush on a run of New Year’s shows in the southeast. “It was everything we could have hoped for. Sevendust’s fanbase are true die-hards\, and they travel all over to see the shows\, so to be welcomed in by them\, especially in 7D’s hometown\, on NYE was surreal.” – Justin Taylor. \nTo round out 2022\, the band buckled down\, did more writing and flew to Las Vegas to work with Chris Collier and James “Fluff” Harley. This dynamic production duo was fresh off working with Korn on their ‘Requiem’ album. There\, Alborn recorded 3 songs\, ‘Push’\, ‘Learn to Live’ and ‘Even Numbers’. These 3 songs are being packaged with a 4th song\, ‘Ten Times’ (recorded with Morgan Rose and Jose Urquiza) to form the EP\, “Push”\, which the band will put out through Pavement Entertainment (Sony / The Orchard) on 2/24/23. \nIn March 2023\, Alborn will hit the road for 18 days providing direct support to Powerman 5000 while Alborn’s new single\, “Push” will be impacting radio at that same time. \nStay tuned to albornmusic.com for all things Alborn. \n\n\nCOMMON CHORD POLICIES: \n*Ticket Disclaimer* \nAll tickets for Common Chord events are sold via Eventbrite and carry applicable transaction fees. SUMMARY:Head for the Hills with Miles Over Mountains in the Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating their new EP release\, “Turn The Time”\, Head for the Hills heads to the Redstone Room for some soulful pickin’ and gravy!\n\n\n\nRecommended for fans of Billy Strings\, Leftover Salmon\, & Greensky Bluegrass \nDoors: 7pm / Show: 8pm \nTickets: $12 in advance / $15 day of show \nHeadliner: Head for the Hills \nOpening Act: Miles Over Mountains \nAge Restriction: All ages\, (Under 19 must be accompanied by an adult) \nWeb: http://www.headforthehillsmusic.com/ \nGenre: Bluegrass / Jamgrass \nAll tickets are general admission. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee a seat. \n\n\nHead for the Hills–Adam Kinghorn\, Joe Lessard\, Matt Loewen–come out swinging and invigorated with fresh sounds on their latest EP\, Say Your Mind (out March 22). Recorded at Swingfingers Studios in Fort Collins (Colorado)\, the band brought a larger band than ever before\, including drummer Darren Garvey of Elephant Revival\, Vocalist Kim Dawson\, Dobroist Todd Livingston\, a horn section and more. The material reflects both the turbulent social rhythms of our current era and more timeless moments of joy\, growth\, and change—think #MeToo\, the current body politic\, and inequality\, but also relationships\, fatherhood and growing up. \nLike a painter that starts in acrylic and graduates to oils\, Head for the Hills is deeper and richer in their 15th year as a band\, with a wider palette of sonic textures at their disposal. Dorm room jam sessions have turned into a decade plus on the road–from humble coffee shops to theaters\, festivals\, roadhouses and clubs all across the country. Over time those sounds and influences have crept more and more into the bluegrass beginnings of the band\, morphing into the seasoned eclecticism of Say Your Mind. The new songs are quinnessential Head for the Hills; genre-stradling\, lyrically deep\, and danceable\, with a crew of collaborators bringing the best of Colorado acoustic\, roots\, and soul music together. \nHead for the Hills numerous festival appearances include notables Telluride Bluegrass Festival\, High Sierra Music Festival\, South by Southwest\, FloydFest\, RockyGrass\, DelFest\, Summer Camp Music Festival\, Blue Ox Music Festival\, Northwest String Summit\, Strawberry Music Festival\, Bristol Rhythm and Roots\, Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival\, Folk Alliance\, Grandoozy and many more. The band charted on the CMJ Top 200 twice\, has been featured on NPR Ideastream and eTown\, and was awarded Best Bluegrass in Colorado four times via Denver’s Westword Magazine. \n \n“HEAD FOR THE HILLS POSSESSES THAT SECRET INGREDIENT.” \n-Ryan Dembinsky\, (Glide Magazine\, Hidden Track) \n“ON TOP OF MODERN STRING MUSIC” \n-Bluegrass Today \n“CUTTING EDGE” \n-Drew Emmitt (Leftover Salmon) \n\n\n\nCOMMON CHORD POLICIES: \n*Ticket Disclaimer* \nAll tickets for Common Chord events are sold via Eventbrite and carry applicable transaction fees. SUMMARY:Logan Springer & The Wonderfully Wild - Album Release in the Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:Logan Springer & The Wonderfully Wild will celebrate their new album release\, “Crow” with Soultru & Jason Carl and the Whole Damn Band.\n\n\n\nFeatured above\, the released single\, “Greenbacks and Gold” off Logan Springer & The Wonderfully Wild’s upcoming album\, “Crow”. \nLogan Springer & the Wonderfully Wild announces the release of their Americana Rock album\, “Crow\,” on March 3. Told around seasonal imagery and rural Midwest landscapes\, “Crow” centers around navigating life in an uncertain world and the untold stories of rural\, blue-collar life – the real problems Springer\, his family\, and neighbors have had. The crow represents the state of paranoia and confusion a lot of the world is living in today due to the pandemic\, political divide\, general misinformation\, and unsupported mental health issues that affect countless people. \nCrow extends the theme of misunderstood animals that first occurred on Springer’s solo album\, “Coyote – ‘kī-yōte.” Crows are thought to be dirty\, trash birds when\, in reality\, they are incredibly intelligent and capable of learning. Springer says\, “Your typical country song is like the social media of music; it only shows the good parts. I want to show what life out in the middle is really like\, without all of the polish.” \n \n\n\n\nDoors: 7pm / Show: 8pm \nTickets: $10 in advance / $12 day of show \nHeadliner: Logan Springer & The Wonderfully Wild \nSupporting Acts: Jason Carl & The Whole Damn Band\, Soultru \nAge Restriction: All ages\, (Under 19 must be accompanied by an adult) \nWeb: loganspringermusic.com \nGenre: Heartland Rock. \nAll tickets are general admission. His lyrics\, his stories and his heart are true. He’ll give you that feeling of ‘going home’. He’ll make you want to say all those things you’ve been meaning to say but were too afraid. Zoofunkyou (or “Zoofü”) is dedicated to spreading love through music and creating inclusive events where people from all walks of life can feel safe and bring the emotional gratitude the band exudes from the stage home with them. In the current iteration\, founder Derek Dare\, Matthew Coglianese\, and Jake Hennessy lead an epic ensemble consisting of a total of 5-9 members depending on the performance. As of late\, they are typically joined by James Kries or Brenden Cabrera on Keys\, and Nathan Reider on Alto Saxophone\, and when they go for the “full band sound” they are joined by Connor Bernhard on Trumpet\, Matt Kowalski on Trombone and Alex Santilli on Percussion. With a wide repertoire of both gripping original music and tasteful covers\, their live shows have proven time and time again to enthrall\, grow and inspire a vibrant fan base affectionately known as the Zoofü Crew. \n\n\n\n\nCOMMON CHORD POLICIES: \n*Ticket Disclaimer* \nAll tickets for Common Chord events are sold via Eventbrite and carry applicable transaction fees. Think James Taylor meets Townes Van Zandt. His music is a blend of Folk\, Americana\, Country & Blues. David was recently accepted as a Juried Artist by Noel Paul Stookey (Peter\, Paul & Mary) org Music-To-Life. David is a 2008 International Song Competition 1st Place Winner and two-time ISC Semifinalist. He performs regularly at the Bluebird Cafe/Nashville. David has released 10 albums (with another one on the way) and feature Grammy nom Mary Gauthier and Grammy winner Keb Mo on 4 of them. He has had two nationwide #1 singles on the RMR chart along with several regional #1 charted songs on the Radio Indie Alliance chart. David’s songs have been featured on TNT\, Lifetime Network\, and Travel Channel and he has a string of indie & major-indie song-cuts. His last 3 albums have been accepted for Grammy consideration. David G Smith – his voice and his songs are authentic. \n“Like John Prine and Guy Clark\, David G Smith draws inspiration from his life and those around him. His songs capture the drama and good times\, the laughter and loss that are the components of the modern world.” -Tom Wilks\, ICON Magazine \n“David G Smith is a major find.” – Robert K. Oermann\, Music Row/Nashville \n\n\n\n Anne E. DeChant is first and last a story-teller\, an artist who writes with the shit-kicker urgency and sweet understanding of the people who stumble and keep keeping on. A Nashville recording artist originally from Avon Lake\, Ohio\, she is a 5-time winner of Cleveland’s Singer-Songwriter of the Year\, and a 2020 Kerrville Folk Festival Songwriting Competition Finalist. \n DeChant has performed with Melissa Etheridge\, Sheryl Crow\, Stevie Nicks\, Don Henry\, Travis Meadows\, and was the selected local artist at Lilith Fair (Cleveland 1999). She has delivered stand out shows in storied venues ranging from the Bluebird Café\, The Bitter End\, The Evening Muse\, The Alabama Country Music Hall of Fame\, to The Clinton White House. \n Anne E. DeChant’s unmistakable voice expresses perfectly her songwriter’s perception\, beginning from her days as the dynamic lead singer of Cleveland fan favorite\, Odd Girl Out. With nine studio album releases to her credit\, her masterfully crafted\, poignant songs move the listener from one world to another with mesmerizing effect. \n Anne E. released her first ‘best of’ record\, “Every Little Everything” in 2020\, fan funded and Nashville produced by Mike Severs. Her 2017 fan-funded release\, “The Sun Coming In”\, climbed to #6 on the Roots Music Report’s national chart\, and its first single “Sunday Morning Drive”\, to #1. \n\n\n\nJames Turley – Quad City Native\, Singer/Songwriter \nDeveloping a unique guitar-picking style was an accident. My left wrist had been broken three times\, and forming bar chords was painful and sometimes numbed my entire left arm. But\, after discovering Mississippi Blues artists\, I found a niche I wanted to make my own. I did not want to copy their styles; I wanted to find my version. As a result\, my playing is best defined as continually developing. The more individual artists I am exposed to\, the more my playing style evolves. \nWriting songs came about at the suggestion of a therapist as a way to confront depression. I write about experiences and events in my life that are common in the lives of many individuals. One of the most rewarding performances I have experienced was after a show at a small coffee shop when a fellow came up to me and said\, “Thank you\, man. It’s like you were singing just to me. I’ve been there.” \nI now only play for ‘listening crowds.’ There’s a transfer of energy in groups like that. The crowd becomes part of the show\, like Open Mic nights at Zeke’s Cafe\, where solo artists meld with the audience. I’ve played twice now on the Redstone Room stage with other solo guitar players. What Common Chord is developing with this ‘listener show experience’ is unique to the Quad Cities. This event is similar to Nashville’s famous Bluebird Cafe. With local support\, this type of venue will become a destination for well-known artists and live music lovers across the midwest.
