SUMMARY:Martin Sexton w/ Chris Trapper | Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:Martin Sexton in the Redstone Room\, March 2!\n\n\nDoors: 6:30pm / Show: 7:30pm \nOpening Act: Chris Trapper \nAge Restriction: 19+ (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian) \nWeb: http://martinsexton.com/ \nGenre: Americana Singer/Songwriter \n \n \nAll tickets are general admission. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee a seat. \n \nSinger-songwriter Martin Sexton is like an ultra-active antenna\, adventuring through the static to grab a clear signal. When he dials in on one station\, he then quickly shifts to the next one. This everchanging attention span drives his family crazy\, but it’s ingrained in Martin\, dating back to his childhood when he would tear through television primetime programming. \n \nThis ability to hone in on little defining moments suits Martin as a songwriter as evident by his latest EP\, 2020 Vision. This is Martin’s first release in 6 years\, and it is a poetically emotive and an elegantly evocative pandemic scrapbook. “In one song\, I’m building a treehouse with my son. In another song\, I’m crossing America and seeing the beauty in people rising through adversity and loving each other\,” Martin details. \n \nThe recordings were tracked virtually during lockdown and produced by three-time Grammy-nominee John Alagia\, best known for producing John Mayer’s breakout album\, Room For Squares. Mayer\, who has always championed Martin as a foundational influence\, makes a special guitar solo cameo on one of the EP’s singles\, “Calling on America.” This 4-song collection will be available on the digital platforms\, and also issued as a handsomely-packaged vinyl release. \n \nMartin’s ever-shifting focus also manifests itself in his freewheeling musicality. He nurtured a critically-acclaimed trademark aesthetic through embracing soul\, folk\, blues\, rock\, pop\, and sweet balladry. His last album\, 2015’s Mixtape of the Open Road\, garnered raves from the Wall Street Journal\, Billboard\, Folk Alley/NPR Music\, and Relix Magazine. \n \nOne constant in Martin’s life and his music is celebrating America. His 1996 Black Sheep album featured a rendition of “America The Beautiful\,” and his major-label debut was simply called The American. Also\, Martin getting his start in music through leaving his upstate New York hometown with seventy-five bucks and a Stratocaster to chase his aspirations brims with anthemic American Dream overtones. 2020 Vision continues this American story. \n \n“I see America as flawed\, but not irredeemable. I love that we have community leaders\, politicians\, actors\, and artists from all backgrounds speaking up\, raising their voices\, and becoming the heroes of today\,” Martin says. “My faith is renewed to see the injustices of the world now beginning to be met with accountability. I remain hopeful and optimistic.” \n2020 Vision snapshots moment of clarity during the pandemic and beyond. The EP’s leadoff single\, “Hold On\,” is one of those sun-shining-through-the-rain songs. It brims with soul guitar fixings\, punchy horns\, and a touching narrative of the simple pleasures of spending time with loved ones. “The silver lining in the pandemic was more facetime with my family. We cut each other’s hair\, we biked\, and I got around to finally building that treehouse with my son\,” Martin recalls. “We finished building it on a sunny summer day\, and I grabbed my old Gibson and sat down inside the new fort and this tune presented itself to me.” \nThe EP’s second single\, “Calling On America\,” follows in the grand tradition of tender R&B cultural commentary epitomized by soul poets like Curtis Mayfield’s and Marvin Gaye. It’s a scene-setting song panning through visual vignettes of love and harmony while also contemplating division. “I see too much division and hate projected on the airwaves\,” Martin shares. “Because of what I do\, I travel and meet folks in the world\, and although it’s far less common than it should be\, I find it encouraging to see people of all walks of life getting along. I believe solidarity through music is a very powerful thing and I’ve always strived to advocate that through my songs and my shows.” The song’s purposeful messaging goes down smooth with folksy acoustic guitar\, gospel-tinged organ playing\, pining pedal steel\, and Martin’s trademark honeyed vocals. “Calling On America” is further enhanced by a John Mayer guitar solo\, a lyrical but fleet-fingered statement that hits that sweet spot between blues and country. The EP is rounded out by the impressionistic folk song\, “Riding Through The Rain\,” and the James Taylor-esque\, “Penny from the Land of Plenty\,” a powerful and hopeful statement on the opioid epidemic. \n \nUp next\, the road is calling Martin as tour dates are being booked in this post-vaccine chapter. 2020 Vision will always have its lessons and remain in Martin’s sight\, even as the miles out on the road put pandemic life in the rearview mirror. One of those lessons is the power of togetherness. Martin says: “My mission statement for the past 15 years has been unity through music\, and I am committed to sharing peace and harmony through my songs.” \n \nRIVER MUSIC EXPERIENCE POLICES: \n \n \n*Ticket Disclaimer* \n \nAll tickets for RME events are sold via Eventbrite and carry applicable transaction fees. SUMMARY:Anthony Gomes w/ Vinyl
DESCRIPTION:#1 Billboard Blues Artist\, Anthony Gomes\, returns to the Redstone Room February 25th!\n\n\n“Gomes’ authentic voice and the formidable guitar chops place him in the forefront of modern blues.” \n– Blues Music Magazine \nAnthony Gomes\, #1 Billboard Blues Artist\, is a triple threat force as a guitarist\, vocalist and songwriter. This\, along with his high-energy shows and dynamic stage presence\, make him one of the top draws on the Rock/Blues circuit today. \nGomes’ new record Containment Blues\, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart\, is the culmination of a life spent honoring Blues traditions while never losing sight of his own identity. The Toronto born guitar slinger stands his ground as a creative artist and is eager to push the Blues back into the mainstream. \n“My goal is to keep the Blues fresh\, exciting and even dangerous\,” says Gomes. “I want to bring back the thrill longtime Bluesmen created in their day. At the same time\, I think it’s very important for the music to grow and evolve. \n”He has performed with the likes of B.B. King\, Buddy Guy\, Robert Plant\, Heart\, Sammy Hagar\, .38 Special\, Jonny Lang\, Robert Cray and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Gomes recalled a conversation he had years ago with one of those legends. “B.B. King told me the Blues are like the laws of the land. They need to be amended to the times we live in\,” Gomes said. “As an artist\, it’s very exciting to think that the Blues can be just as ground-breaking today as it ever was. \n“Believing that music can inspire the human spirit\, Anthony founded the Music Is the Medicine Foundation in 2010. This non-profit organization is dedicated to changing the lives of others through the healing power of music. \nAnthony Gomes has nothing left to prove while leaving all his passion on the table. Nonetheless\, he continues striving to not only find the legendary “lost chord\,” but the ultimate combinations of words\, notes and performance. Looking for an actual 21st Century guitar hero? Here he is. \n \nDoors: 7pm / Show: 8pm \nOpening Act: Vinyl \nAge Restriction: 19+ (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian) \nWeb: www.anthonygomes.com \nGenre: Blues Rock \n \nAll tickets are general admission. Local songwriters are paired up with top notch QC musicians to act as their own personal backing band\, complete with all the fun and community that the Quad Cities as come to know as an All Sweat Productions show. \nThis month’s songwriters are: \nCharlotte Blu \nYoung inspiring artist from Rock Island\, Illinois. I grew up around musicians in the church and community where my love for music grew. I started out going to blues and rock camps locally which is what helped and shaped me into the musician I am today. From the camps came many opportunities for me to perform around my hometown. From my experience being able to play with other musicians I was able to gain much knowledge. The highlight of my career has been being able to perform on the voice stage!! it was an unforgettable moment I’ll never forget and am very honored to stand on any stage where my music takes me. \nJ Wolfskill \nOut of the banks of the Mississippi river\, J. Mackenzie Wolfskill emerged in 2021 as a heartfelt singer & songwriter focused on sonically capturing the human experience. His music is progressively changing yet\, strong influences have held throughout his music often rooted in african desert blues\, psychedelic jam rock\, & americana/indie folk rock. “I enjoy creating with others and feeling as present as I can be\, embodying the emotions I play\, and getting lost with others in the sonic space\, I let the music create itself & it’s different everytime”. \nAlexa Mueller \nAlexa is a singer-songwriter from Hampton\, IL whose hard work and powerful vocals have earned her a solid place among her adult peers. Drawing influence from a blend of blues\, country\, and classic rock\, she performs as a soloist/guitarist at a variety of venues around the Quad-Cities\, & also serves as the front man for QC Vinyl Rock-n-Blues Band. Her vocals have been featured at BB King’s in Memphis\, as well as through the prestigious Fernando Jones summer Blues program at Columbia College in Chicago where she sang at sites such as Reggie’s Rock Club & Navy Pier. Alexa is 16\, a full-time student\, & in her free time she is also traveling as a member of the Y-QC Rowing Team. SUMMARY:Them Coulee Boys\, Still Shine\, and Spencer Eli Praught
DESCRIPTION:Them Coulee Boys\, Still Shine\, and Spencer Eli Praught in the Redstone Room February 5th!\n\n\nThem Coulee Boys craft a brand of Americana that blends folk\, punk\, bluegrass\, and rock & roll. They sing their conversational songs in 4 part harmony\, often with a banjo stomp and rhythm section punch that drives the audience onto the dance floor and into community. Their trusty van has propelled them thousands of miles across the country and into the hearts of strangers\, who tend to leave each show as family. It’s music that creates community through the shared experience of joy and giving a shit. \nThe story is true. Soren Staff and Beau Janke met as counselors at a bible camp in northern Wisconsin in 2011. Having both grown up amidst a stretch of glacial melt-carved river valleys in the upper Midwest (called coulees by French fur trappers)\, they were fast friends. At camp\, another counselor took to teasing them saying “them coulee boys are at it again.” The name stuck. Spending their weeks playing songs with kids around a campfire led to weekends figuring out an Avett Brothers tune or classic country song. In 2013\, they added Soren’s brother Jens on mandolin\, and a rough-around-the-edges\, stomping 3-piece folk band played their first show as Them Coulee Boys. Four years later Neil Krause joined to play acoustic and electric bass\, and in 2019 when Stas Hable joined on drums\, TCB evolved into the full-on americana rock band they are today. The live band straddles the line between pure and genuine ballads and a sweaty\, leaping take on countrified rock-n-roll. \nWith three full length albums and an EP behind them\, including 2019’s Die Happy (produced by Trampled By Turtles’ Dave Simonett on Lo-Hi Records)\, the band has garnered international attention and earned press in American Songwriter and The Bluegrass Situation\, as well as tours with TBT and a spot on the songwriter’s Cayamo Cruise. In 2020\, they were named Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Band to Watch\, and were nominated for band of the year by the Wisconsin Area Music Industry. When the world stopped in early 2020\, the band holed up in their practice space and began writing\, and the result is their brand new effort entitled Namesake. \nNamesake was recorded at The Hive in the band’s hometown of Eau Claire\, WI\, a small Wisconsin city infamously blessed with a wealth of musical talent. The record was produced by Grammy-winner Brian Joseph\, who has worked with the likes of Paul Simon\, Sufjan Stevens\, Ani Difranco\, The Indigo Girls\, and earned his Grammy producing and engineering Bon Iver’s Bon Iver. The Hive itself is an intimate room\, with ceilings draped with nautical rope\, and bookshelves adorned with all manner of things antiquarian\, living and dead. Joseph’s fingerprints are everywhere on the record\, and the warm feel of home left the band trusting further expansion of their sound. The result is a record that is equal parts bear hug\, gut punch\, and a steadying hand. \nTaking inspiration from the intimate nature of the space after a long period of quarantine\, Namesake feels familial\, like old friends with no need for small talk. There are moments of power and punch\, balanced with an intimacy only felt between the ones we love. The banjo stomp that personifies TCB is still there on the title track “Namesake”\, but now it’s paired with the raw power of electric guitar\, mandolin\, and banjo on “Phil’s Song” and “1st Team All-American”. The mood is dialed way back for “Hallelujah” and “4/1”\, to let the lyrics shine. There’s a nod to Petty and Springsteen in the expanse of “Given Up”\, and a Dylanesque troubadour’s longing behind the sweet tale of “Knuckleballer”. \nNamesake is Them Coulee Boys following a new trajectory\, combining their take on a punched up version of folk-grass/americana with a comfort in electric instruments and rock & roll. The record lives and breathes\, is both intimate and bombastic. It’s your sweet aunt who makes delicious pies and your wiley uncle not afraid to hit a bit of the hooch. At bottom is the acceptance that comes with family and old friends: none of us are perfect\, but there’s enough love out there to make up for it. \n_____________________ \nFormed in the summer of 2014\, Still Shine is a group of like-minded\, seasoned musicians blending acoustic roots and progressive bluegrass. Mixing mandolin\, harmonica\, banjo\, acoustic guitar\, upright bass\, and tight harmonies they quickly gained a following around Central Illinois area and the local Midwest. They have shared the stage with artists such as Billy Strings\, Railroad Earth\, The Leadfoot Band\, Split Lip Rayfield\, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades\, Kitchen Dwellers\, Larry Keel\, Chicago Farmer\, Old Shoe and the Way Down Wanderers just to name a few. Along with some well received original music\, the band performs an upbeat\, energetic show you won’t want to miss! \n \nDoors: 7pm / Show: 8pm \nOpening Act: Spencer Eli Praught \nAge Restriction: 19+ (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian) \nWeb: https://www.themcouleeboys.com/ | www.stillshinegrass.com \nGenre: Bluegrass \n \nAll tickets are general admission. SUMMARY:All Sweat Original Series: Randy Leasman\, Erin Moore\, John Born
DESCRIPTION:An All Sweat Original Concert featuring Randy Leasman\, Erin Moore\, and John Born.\n\n\nThe All Sweat Original Series is a curated event to showcase Quad City artists in a way you’ve never seen them before. Unlike a standard concert this is an intimate moment for you to truly connect with these musicians and their art. Local songwriters are paired up with top notch QC musicians to act as their own personal backing band\, complete with all the fun and community that the Quad Cities as come to know as an All Sweat Productions show. \nThis month’s songwriters are: \nRandy Leasman \nRandy Leasman was born in Davenport IA. The singer/songwriter grew up in the Quad Cities absorbing the sounds all around him. From Catholic hymns at grade school mass to the latin rhythms of Chicago bands hired to play local weddings and quinceañeras. MTV\, Classic Rock radio and the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival were also crucial in Randy’s musical development. Besides being a solo artist\, Randy has also performed\, written and recorded with many groups over the years including the Candymakers\, the Low Down\, Zach Harris Band\, and currently the Avey Grouws Band. He is an instructor at Kidstock and the Ellis Kell Winter Blues Camp at the River Music Experience as well. Randy released his latest album Forever Loving Living Fantasy in November of 2021. \nErin Moore \nBack when RIBCO and Rascals were just about the only venues in the Quad Cities that started with the letter ‘R’\, a 16-year-old Erin Moore was sneaking into Hunter’s Club\, Big Papa’s Palace\, Stickmans\, The Wagon Wheel\, and Stub’s Eddy to experience live music. This OG from the QC first cut her teeth battling her stage-fright at open mics at Blackthorn Pub\, 11th Street Precinct\, Stacys\, and Bierstube in the Village of East Davenport. Meanwhile\, the River Music Experience\, Rozz Tox\, Rust Belt\, Renwick Hotel\, and Racoon Motel popped up\, effervescently\, adding fuel to a growing fire. Erin is grateful to witness the widening and deepening of our rich music tradition. It’s remarkable that the music community in the Quad Cities has always been raging — right-in-time with the mighty Mississippi River\, sometimes beyond its banks. \nErin has been writing\, relentlessly\, for as long as she remembers\, as a way to make sense of what it means to be human. She has recorded original music projects with BEEs\, The Candymakers\, and Busted Chandeliers. Stream BEEs EP “Shady Lady” on QCBeats and discover a new local artist on the growing list of contributors. If it isn’t obvious\, Erin is pretty elated to be integrating herself back into society in 2022\, in the midst of what felt like a bizarre time-warp\, with an extensive mask collection and a tiny human to nurture. Currently\, she pays the bills being a librarian but dreams of how lovely it would be to open another music venue and name it something righteous\, definitely beginning with the letter ‘R’. \nJohn Born \nJohn was born in Davenport\, but raised in small town IL. Concentrating mostly on sports\, and art\, he didn’t pick up the guitar until the end of his senior year. Drawing mostly from\, grunge\, alternative\, metal\, punk\, and of course the regional country music of his youth\, he immediately started to write songs of his own. While many songs reflect familiar themes of chasing girls\, and late night hell raising\, others lean towards his love of history and film. “I want to write rock songs that sound like where I’m from\, what I believe\, and what I love.” \n \nDoors: 6:30pm / Show: 7pm \n \nAll tickets are general admission. SUMMARY:lespecial w/ Mike Dillon & Punkadelic and The Channel Cats | Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:lespecial are in the Redstone Room December 9th with Mike Dillon & Punkadelic and The Channel Cats!\n\n\nlespecial carve their own sonic path in modern music\, creating their signature blend of “heavy future groove.” The power trio’s fresh synthesis of varied and divergent influences doesn’t underestimate the listener\, reflecting a post-modern cultural climate in which fans have space on their aural palette for J Dilla\, Radiohead\, King Crimson and Fela Kuti. \nVeering from hip-hop to metal\, prog to house\, pensive indie-rock to apocalyptic dub\, leaving room for head banging and hip swaying alike\, while still presenting a unified sound and vision. \nThese three childhood friends from Connecticut play off of a lifetime of shared experience in their writing and performance. In a power trio\, it’s essential that each of the players can utterly captivate you at any given time. Each individual has a lot of weight to carry and is only as strong as the weakest link. In the studio\, as on stage\, it seems at first blush that Jon Grusauskas—delivering lyrics that call for your attention and seamlessly moving from guitar to keys to samples—is handling the entire upper end of the spectrum… until you consider how broad the melodic embrace of rhythmatist Rory Dolan and low end wizard Luke Bemand: injecting splashes of color and wicked chops into their heavy groove foundations or driving assaults\, this dynamic battery simultaneously eases and propels lespecial through fractious changes of mood and tempo. Additionally\, whether at the forefront or scattered throughout the mix\, all of them use live looping or triggered samples that contribute to a sound that is far greater than that generally created by three people as they seek to tap into a primitive past\, distorted through the lens of contemporary technology. \n \nDoors: 7pm / Show: 8pm \nOpening Act: Mike Dillon & Punkadelic / The Channel Cats \nAge Restriction: 19+ (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian) \nWeb: http://lespecial.net/ \nGenre: Heavy Future Groove \n \nAll tickets are general admission. SUMMARY:An Evening with Keller Williams | Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:Keller Williams returns to the Redstone Room\, December 4th!\n\n\nDoors: 7pm / Show: 8pm \nOpening Act: None \nAge Restriction: 19+ (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian) \nWeb: https://kellerwilliams.net/ \nGenre: Acoustic Dance Music \n \nAll tickets are general admission. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee a seat. \n \nCOVID RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO THIS PERFORMANCE:\n \n The artist is requiring all guests to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours prior to the event. A printed copy\, photograph\, or other documentation will be required at the door to gain entry. \n \nVirginian\, Keller Williams\, released his first album in 1994\, FREEK\, and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: BUZZ\, SPUN\, BREATHE\, LOOP\, LAUGH\, HOME\, DANCE\, STAGE\, GRASS\, DREAM\, TWELVE\, LIVE\, ODD\, THIEF\, KIDS\, BASS\, PICK\, FUNK\, VAPE\, SYNC\, RAW\, SANS\, ADD\, SPEED and CELL. Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project. Keller’s albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Un-beholden to conventionalism\, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. The end product is music that encompasses rock\, jazz\, funk and bluegrass\, and always keeps the audience on their feet. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances\, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed solo. His stage shows are rooted around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs\, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar\, bass\, guitar synthesizer and drum samples; a technique called live phrase sampling or “looping”. The end result often leans toward a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronica\, a genre Keller jokingly calls “acoustic dance music” or ADM.” Keller’s constant evolution has led to numerous band projects as well; Keller & The Keels\, Grateful Grass\, KWahtro\, Keller and the Travelin’ McCourys\, Grateful Gospel and More Than A Little to name a few. Keller can be found playing clubs and festivals around the U.S. with these projects throughout the year. \n \n*Seating Disclaimer*The Redstone Room at River Music Experience is a standing room only concert venue. SUMMARY:Two Peace with The Wontu Trees | Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:Two Peace with The Wontu Trees in the Redstone Room November 24!\n\n\nDoors: 7pm / Show: 8:00pm \nOpening Act: The Wontu Trees \nAge Restriction: 19+ (minors must be accompanied by an adult) \nWeb: https://www.facebook.com/twopeacemusic \nGenre: Reggae \n \n \nAll tickets are general admission. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee a seat. \n \nTwo Peace is a reggae/hip-hop band originally from Davenport\, IA now residing in Sacramento\, CA. \n \nThe band was formed in late 2011 but the story started a little prior to that. Vocalist and keys man\, Nick Harksen\, was pursuing his own musical journey as a solo artist. He released his first solo album “Ya Gotta Feel It” in 2009 and ironically enough Jacob Hahn (Bass man for Two Peace) had bought his very first copy. The friendship continued and while at a music festival in Alabama\, Jacob got inspired to pick up the bass again and asked Nick if he could join him on his musical path. Nick agreed and Two Peace was born! \n \nTwo Peace played the local scene and all over the midwest for a couple of years opening for bands such as Easy Star All-Stars\, Passafire\, John Wayne and The Pain\, and Natty Nation to name a few. \n \nIn 2014 Two Peace went to the California Roots Music Festival as fans\, and decided that California is where they belonged and never looked back. After a few weeks of camping in their van and searching for jobs and a place to stay\, Two Peace found their new home in Sacramento\, CA. Since then they have played many shows all over Northern California opening for bands such as\, Katchafire\, Morgan Heritage\, Alborosie\, The Skints\, The Green\, Jesse Royal\, Fortunate Youth\, The Expanders\, House of Shem and many other top reggae acts. Two Peace has toured the west side of the nation opening for bands such as EarthKry\, Ital Vibes\, J Ras\, and The Riddims. They have also gone on 3 national summer tours of their own starting in California\, traveling back to the Midwest to reunite with all of their hometown fans\, and then back to California\, stopping in many cities and states along the way. This is a regular occurrence every summer. \n \nTwo Peace is taking their music to the next level and can’t wait to see what the future holds. \n \n \n*Seating Disclaimer* \n \nThe Redstone Room at River Music Experience is a standing room only concert venue. She has garnered accolades as a singer-songwriter due to the breadth and depth of her writing\, and she has paid her dues as a cover artist at countless venues and watering holes across the U.S. \n \nMolly’s songs draw from the heart of Americana – a hint of country\, slightly bluesy\, yet every song is uniquely hers. Clever and amusing\, honest and hard-hitting\, tender and heartfelt – “she has that special ability to take you there.” Armed with a battered Breedlove guitar and a treasure trove of memorable choruses\, she’s got everything she needs to rock the house. \n \nA native of the Northeast\, Molly has lived in both the South and the Midwest. Raised in rural NY\, she began singing in the “518” music scene of the Capital Region\, where she released her debut CD entitled Run in 2012. \n \nMolly has earned praise for her original songs at the renowned folk venue Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs\, NY\, and as a musical shape-shifter\, she has been both a street singer at the City Market in Charleston\, SC\, and a hard working mainstay at honky-tonks throughout the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois. \n \nMolly is currently living in Charleston\, SC with her two Siberian Huskies\, where she sings at local hot spots\, both as a solo act and with a band. \n \nRIVER MUSIC EXPERIENCE POLICES: \n \n \n*Ticket Disclaimer* \n \nAll tickets for RME events are sold via Eventbrite and carry applicable transaction fees. SUMMARY:Timbo\, JD Aguilera\, and Angela Meyer | Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:A night of country music in the Redstone Room featuring Nashville native Timbo\, JD Aguilera\, and Angela Meyer.\n\n\nDoors: 7pm / Show: 7:30pm \nAge Restriction: 19+ (minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian) \nWeb: https://www.facebook.com/timboandlonesomecountry/ | https://www.angelameyer23.com/ | https://www.facebook.com/JDaguileraOFFICIAL \nGenre: Country \n \nAll tickets are general admission. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee a seat. \nTimbo \nNashville\, Tennessee operates as the country music capital of the world. Every year\, legions of starry-eyed performers traverse from all over to the musical mecca in hopes of pursuing a career as a professional musician. The city has inspired and cultivated a multitude of artists but probably not as much as prolific singer-songwriter\, Timbo\, who has always called Nashville his home. Very few country musicians can say they were born and bred within the limits of Music City\, but Timbo can say that and more\, as he has become a local fixture within the Nashville music community. \nIn June 2020\, Timbo released his first collection of original music in the form of an EP titled Brand New Feeling. The EP showcases a sound that harkens back to Nashville’s golden years and serves as a reminder of the qualities that make country music great. The six-song EP weaves a thread through the emotions of loneliness\, longing\, and dependency and leaves the listener yearning for more. \nThe EP kicks off with the wonderfully melodic number “Waiting\,” where Timbo ponders the return of a former lover who has just arrived back in town and contemplates his actions that may have pushed her away. Set against the backdrop of a dimly lit bar\, steeped in the state of yearning desire\, “Waiting” sets the stage for the rest of the EP by demonstrating Timbo’s timeless country sound\, featuring plenty of steel and fiddle\, as well as his brilliant songwriting. \n“Brand New Feeling\,” the title track off the EP\, serves as the most optimistic tune in the batch. The song details the flood of emotions that occurs when one falls in love and the little voice in the back of your mind that hopes that it’s not all too good to be true: “Oh\, baby\, I can feel it in my soul/I’m falling fast so please don’t let me go.” \nTimbo conjures up a smooth melodic tribute to his home state with “Gentle Breeze of Tennessee.” The imagery in the song is just plain gorgeous: “gentle breeze of Tennessee/I can hear her melody/hand in mine we ride again/I’m a sing into the wind/listening to her precious harmony\,” the lyrical content coupled with an excellent use of a weeping steel easily makes the song a personal favorite amongst the collection and\, from personal experience\, a perfect tune to listen to on an afternoon drive in the Appalachian Mountains. \nDrinking songs have long been a fixture within the lexicon of country music and with the tune “Drink All Night\,” Timbo proves just why the formula works so well. The song kicks off with the line: “When I lost my trust in you/I found the bottle…” From the opening words\, the flood gates have opened and the feeling takes hold. Timbo breathes new life into a familiar concept in country music; drinking away the memory of the woman who left\, and it has never sounded so fresh. \nThe first tune I ever heard by Timbo clocks in as the fifth song on the EP: “Be That One.” The tune essentially details one’s longing for someone else and the acknowledgment that they are willing to be present in any capacity that the person will allow them to be even if the person does not want them all the time. Timbo’s soulful country voice shines on the number and as I sit and listen to it again\, it is quite apparent why my ears perked up in curiosity the first time I heard it. \nThe EP closes out with the lamenting cautionary tale\, “The Liars Lullaby” which recollects the broken promises that amounted over the course of a relationship and the pining to actually live out the experiences that were promised before the relationship dismantled. The song offers up a narrative of reflection and consideration which is a prominent concept throughout the course of the entire EP. Brand New Feeling offers country music fans a little taste of a native Nashvillian’s artistry. Timbo’s idiosyncratic sound stands out amongst what the masses commonly associate with country music today and it is a sound that deserves to be heard way beyond the limits of Music City. \n \nAngela Meyer \nAngela Meyer was raised in rural Iowa by a family centered around country music. Her new album\, “Legions & Legends” is a collection of 10 stories that pay homage to the Midwestern way of life. Often cyclical\, this journey is paved by ancestral footsteps and lit by neon signs. Along the way\, we trip over the roots of our family trees\, finding routine in bad habits\, falling in love and setting the tone for future generations. At times\, we resent the places we come from\, but we never leave- they built us a legacy. \nAngela pulls in the crowd with a sweet voice and brutal honesty. She knows what its like to be in the audience\, her earliest memories taking her back to being a child dancing in smoky tent while her mama sang on stage with her band at the Iowa State Fair. Even before she could talk\, Angela was singing along with the radio and introduced to her musical heroes through her grandparents’ record player in their Iowa farmhouse. Around 10 years old\, they gave her a guitar for Christmas\, but it was so large she had to lay it across her lap to learn how to play it. She finally revisited the guitar at fifteen\, starting to write her own songs and creating the foundation that has built her dream into a lifelong career. Find her new album “Legions & Legends” across buying & streaming platforms. \n \n*Seating Disclaimer* \n \nThe Redstone Room at River Music Experience is a standing room only concert venue. SUMMARY:Pat Travers | Redstone Room
DESCRIPTION:Blues Rock guitarist Pat Travers in the Redstone Room October 14!\n\n\nDoors: 7pm / Show: 7:30pm \nOpening Act: Far Out 283 \nAge Restriction: Ages 19+ (minors allowed with an adult) \nWeb: http://www.pattravers.com/ \nGenre: Blues Rock \n \n \nAll tickets are general admission. Purchasing a ticket does not guarantee a seat. \n \nPat Travers was born in Toronto\, Canada on April 12\, 1954. Soon after picking up the guitar at age 14 Pat saw the legend Jimi Hendrix perform in Ottawa. This obviousvinspirational concert must have sparked the young Pat to go after the dream of becoming a star like so many of his early influences. Inspired by such guitarists as Hendrix\, Jeff Beck\, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page\, Pat began playing in bands early in his teens. His first bands were “Red Hot” and “Merge” who played in Quebec area clubs. While the early years were hard\, they would eventually pay off in the form of improved musicianship\, style\, and exposure. \n \nWhile performing with Merge\, he was noticed by the 50’s rock artist Ronnie Hawkins who soon had Pat off on the road performing with him. While Hawkins music was mostly old rock and roll\, country and rockabilly\, Pat used this experience to hone his skills and voice as Hawkins lead guitarist. After a year on the road with Hawkins\, Pat traded in the tuxedoes and ties to go after his true dream\, to have his own band and become a star. \n \n At age 20\, Pat with the help of some friends he moved to London in hopes of achieving his dreams. Armed with a Marshall amp\, a wah-wah pedal\, and a few hours of studio time Pat recorded a demo that soon earned him a recording contract with Polydor. Releasing his debut album “Pat Travers” in April 1976 with Mars Cowling on bass\, and Roy Dyke on drums\, Pat embarked on a tour of England in support of his debut. Adorned in a red and white jumpsuit displaying the maple leaf of his native Canada\, Pat increased his following of fans. Trademarks of his early shows included giving away cardboard replicas of his black Fender Telecaster\, playing barefoot\, and inviting audience member to play “air guitar” on stage during the show. It was with this accessibility to the fans that Pat became an invited performer to the huge Reading Festival in 1976. \n \n Pat released Makin’ Magic in 1977 and continued to tour again infront of huge crowds. It was after the release of his album “Putting It Straight” that Pat returned to the North America as the trend in the UK was leaning towards the punk rock revolution instead of the hard blues driven rock that Pat was producing. \n \nEnlisting the talents of Tommy Aldridge and Pat Thrall and of course always inspirational Mars Cowling the release of “Heat In the Street” further strengthen his following. The album featured more of Pat’s sometimes elaborate songs which further proved that he wasn’t just a mere air headed guitar hero\, but that of an accomplished composer and lyricist. Pat Thrall\, a great guitarist as well\, quickly rounded out the sound and provided Pat more freedom to do other things like expand his keyboard playing. Besides\, Pat Thrall’s influence from his fusion background provided more fuel for Pat to write from. But Pat realized the best way to hear the Pat Travers Band was to hear it live. \n \nSo\, understanding this the band released its first live album “Go For What You Know” in 1979. \n \nConsidered one of his best albums and a “must have” for any guitar fan\, “Go For What You Know” introduced many more fans to the music of Pat Travers. Some say that it was with this release that PT garnered his largest increase of fans. Since the album received large amounts of radio airplay and with successful tours with some of the biggest bands\, Pat soon found himself at the center of attention amongst aspiring guitarists. The album was one of his best seller and still sells well even many years later. \n \nMore and more Pat was being considered a guitar hero\, a description he himself was less comfortable with. Expressing himself more musically and with tonality Pat prided himself in these areas more than in speed and trickery. While Pat could certainly keep up with the “fastest” guitarists of the era\, his first priority was more in the music than showing off what he could do on the guitar. With this rising respect\, Pat found himself on the cover of Guitar Player magazine as the feature artist in January 1980. \n \nIn 1980 his release of “Crash And Burn” proved to be an expansion of his already excellent composing skills. The songs were more intricate and used a more diverse method of song delivery. Keyboards and vocals are the true highlight of this album as Pat flexed his musicianship muscles. And while not to disappoint his fans\, he still plays awesome guitars on such burners as “Snortin’ Whiskey”. \n \nShortly after the there performance in 1980 at the Reading Festival Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge left the band. Not one to sit on his laurels\, Pat was back in the studio to record “Radio Active” in 1981. This album marked a slight return to his roots by using the classic power trio format that made him a rising star in the UK. Following the album he embarked on a very successful tour co-headlining with Rainbow. \n \n1982 saw the release of Black Pearl\, and in 1984 the release of Hot Shot\, and a video related release “Just Another Killer Day”. Several of Pat’s videos were even displayed on MTV. \n \nMired with problems with management\, and with legal problems with Polydor\, Pat soon stepped out of the recording industry but continued to tour and kept his contact with the thousands and thousands of fans he had from all the previous years. Once stated as “One forgotten by the industry\, but never forgotten by the fans”\, Pat still retained his fan base and still thrilled anyone who would come to see him perform. \n \nIn 1990 Pat re-entered the recording studio with Mars\, Jerry Riggs and Scott Zymowski and released “School of Hard Knocks”\, of course a title that could be considered a self appointed reflection on his career. The release not only strengthened his fans who were so glad to hear new PT\, but also attracted more new fans. \n \nAfter a successful tour in support of “School of Hard Knocks” in the UK\, Pat once again toured the US and Canada where a concert in the town of his birthplace was recorded in 1990 and released as “Boom Boom\, Live at the Diamond Club”. This album proved once again that PT is one to be reckoned with live\, favoring the live environment instead of the trickery of the studio. It has been said that “live is where you separate the men from the boys”\, and this release proves it. A video of the same show was also released and is well worth getting for any fan. \n \nSince PT fans demanded more\, and after thousands of requests on the BBC to replay Pat’s performances from the 1977 and 1980 Reading Festivals the BBC released “Pat Travers – BBC Live in Concert”. As one of the most requested archives in the BBC library it was released on Windsong in 1992 and is of course another of the “must haves” for any true fan. \n \nThis new found interest in his music prompted former record company nemesis Polydor to release “The Best of Pat Travers” in 1990\, which also was the first release of his material on CD. In addition\, Anthology Volume One and Two\, a two CD set was also release in the UK and features even more of his material in the CD format. Soon other PT Classics\, “Go For What You Know”\, “Crash and Burn” were also released in the US on CD. Imports were released in Japan of “Heat in the Street”\, and “Putting it Straight” was released in the UK. \n \nHaving been without a US based recording label for many years Pat soon signed with Mike Varney’s Blues Bureau International label in the US. The release of “Blues Tracks” in 1993 further expanded Pat’s library of sound. The songs are from the “greats” of the blues\, many of who were influences of Pat’s\, but Pat’ puts his flare and flavor to these great songs. Following Blues Tracks Pat issued Just a Touch\, Blues Magnet\, Halfway To Somewhere\, Lookin’ Up\, Best Of Blues + Live\, Blues Tracks 2 and his latest release “Don’t Feed The Alligators” issued in 2000. \n \nPat’s Blues Bureau years are perhaps his most significant in that he has worked with many musicians and the songs feature more of the classic blues based guitar that fans crave. Some what of a return to the sounds and style that made us pure Travers fans in the first place. \n \nWhile touring and supporting the latest releases Pat has been impressing old fans as well as new ones all over the US and Europe. Recent tours have featured such well known guitarists as Jeff Watson of Night Ranger\, Rick Derringer\, and Tim Keiffer of Cinderella. Touring musicians during the early Blues Bureau years included Sean “Cannon” Shannon\, bassist Dave La Rue and bassist Kevin Rian. Pat punched out the tunes before adoring fans\, in small clubs and stadiums with the same intensity he always had. Irregardless of the crowd size\, Pat puts out the same effort night after grueling night. \n \nIn retrospect\, Pat is gaining a resurgence in his career. After overcoming many problems that would have made most to give it up\, Pat still pushes on. Which is much to the appreciation of the fans who continue to follow. Not only does Pat find himself once again climbing towards the top\, he can also enjoy it with those that are close to him\, his famaily. Pat’s wife Monica sings backup on many of Pat’s songs both in studio and live. His children Amanda and Elijah have inspired songs and certainly help to excite and inspire Pat to keep doing what he does best\, and that is of course making some of the best music possible. \n \nMuch to the pleasure of his fans in 2001 – Pat made available a LIVE recording of a very rare solo appearance\, “Pat Travers Solo”. This CD includes the first time ever that Pat has done an acoustic set. It was recorded live at Nils Lofgren’s Guitar Bar in Henderson\, Nevada. \n \n 2001 also saw Pat Travers join the “Voices of Classic Rock” tour\, featuring a wide arrangement of musicians from the major bands of the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. Among them are the likes of bassist Glenn Hughes and vocalist Joe Lynn Turner of Deep Purple\, John Cafferty\, Spencer Davis\, and Gary U.S. Bond\, to name but a few. This tour featured each artist doing two or three of their signature tunes. On this tour\, PT is playing “Boom \n \nBoom”\, “Snorting Whiskey”\, and “HotShot”\, as well as doing much of the lead guitar work on the other songs. In 2004 he started a project with the veteran drummer Carmine Appice and started touring the U.S.A.; as of now there are 3 albums released. Travers recorded cover tunes from bands such as Led Zeppelin\, Montrose\, Queen\, and Trapeze under the album name P.T. Power Trio 2\, and they toured Europe in November 2006. Travers has lived in central Florida for several years\, and is now married with two children. Travers is also a Black Belt in the style of Isshin Ryu Karate\, and currently trains with 10 time World Champion\, Mike Reeves Sensei in Apopka\, FL \n \nThe Pat Travers Band (PTB) currently consists of Pat Travers (guitars\, vocals\, keyboards)\, and Tommy Craig (drums)\, and David Pastorius (bass/vocals). \n \nThe Pat Travers Band put out the album “Fidelis” in late 2009. In July 2013\, The Pat Travers Band put out new album “CAN DO” released by Frontiers Records\, a major label based in Italy for numerous artists in the field of classic rock. The CAN DO album was supported by PTB tours of the U.S.\, the U.K.\, and Europe during the later half of 2013. In January 2015\, Frontiers Records released Pat Travers Band Live at the Iridium NYC\, recorded in February 2012\, featuring Jon Paris playing blues harp on “If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day” and “Spoonful”. \n \nTravers also sang on Boston metal band Extreme’s minor hit “Get the Funk Out\,” from their hugely successful 1990 Pornograffitti album. Travers has recently become a part of and performed with the All-Star band Scrap Metal. \n \n \n*Seating Disclaimer* \n \nThe Redstone Room at River Music Experience is a standing room only concert venue.
