SUMMARY:The I-Rock 93.5 Holiday Hangover
DESCRIPTION:Genre: Rock\, Alt. Rock\, Alt. Metal \nDoors: 6pm / Show: 7pm \nTickets: $15 in adv / $18 at the door. \nArtist: Alborn\, Discrepancies\, Arson City\, Five AM \nHosted By:  I Rock 93.5\, Ryan McCredden \nSeating: General admission. No guaranteed seating. Table reservations available. \nAge Restriction: All Ages\, (19 & Under accompanied by an adult) \nSee below for about the artists\, admission & common chord policies. \n– – – – – – – – – – \nFacebook Event  \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Meet Your Host\, Ryan McCreddan\, of I Rock 93.5 Radio \nRyan is the Operations Manager for Townsquare Media in the Quad Cities. What does that mean? Nobody is really sure. \nRyan is originally from northern Wisconsin but lived in Texas for 13 years prior to moving to the Quad Cities in 2019.  So Ryan still thinks the cold sucks. \nRyan came to the Quad Cities and told the fellas at corporate the Quad Cities needed a hard rock station.  Shockingly they said OK.  Go for it. \nSo on August 30\, 2019\, I-Rock 93.5 brought back the hard rock the Quad Cities was missing. \nYou can listen to the ramblings of a madman every day from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  That’s when Ryan talks about the latest concerts and I-Rock 93.5 events that you’ll always see him at.  Ryan will also bribe you daily with contests and 54-minute shut-up and rock blocks while you work. \nYou can reach Ryan on all the I-Rock 93.5 social media accounts cause he is the only guy there. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Alborn | Formed in 2016\, Northern Illinois based alternative metal band Alborn consists of Justin Taylor [guitar/lead vocals]\, Alex Raser [Drums/vocals]\, Zame Lewis [bass] and Nate Guske [guitar/vocals]. Their sound has been compared to Deftones or a heavier version of Alice in Chains. But\, make no mistake\, Alborn has created something unique\, hard and melodic. \nAlborn released their debut EP\, “Impairative” in 2020. Follow up singles “Full Circle”\, “Cause to Create” and “Hindsight” took them through 2021 and had initial success including Spotify’s “Rock Hard” playlist\, SiriusXM Octane\, Music Choice as well as terrestrial radio rotation. \nThe band went on to play every live show they could\, having huge success in sharing stages with the likes of Shinedown\, Sevendust\, Buckcherry\, Adelitas Way\, Badflower\, Gemini Syndrome\, Plush and others. Entering 2022\, the band was invited to again join Sevendust and Plush on a run of New Year’s shows in the southeast. “It was everything we could have hoped for. Sevendust’s fanbase are true die-hards and they travel all over to see the shows\, so to be welcomed in by them\, especially in 7D’s hometown\, on NYE was surreal.” – Justin Taylor. \nTo round out 2022\, the band buckled down\, did more writing and flew to Las Vegas to work with Chris Collier and James “Fluff” Harley. This dynamic production duo was fresh off working with Korn on their ‘Requiem’ album. There\, Alborn recorded 3 songs\, ‘Push’\, ‘Learn to Live’ and ‘Even Numbers’. These 3 songs are being packaged with a 4th song\, ‘Ten Times’ (recorded with Morgan Rose and Jose Urquiza) to form the EP\, “Push”\, which the band will put out through Pavement Entertainment (Sony / The Orchard) on 2/24/23. \nIn March 2023\, Alborn hit the road for 18 days providing direct support to Powerman 5000 while Alborn’s new single\, “Push” started at radio. The single has been a big hit\, even charting on Billboard’s Top 40 for Mainstream Rock. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Discrepancies | the Rap/Rock band out of St. Louis\, have formed an undeniably powerful and fresh sound. Comprised of Garrett Weakley (Bass)\, Brandon Bollinger (Guitar/Vocals)\, Marc Lyle (Drums)\, Antonio Metcalf (Vocals)\, and Addison Bracher (Guitar/Vocals)\, the band has a unique take on Rap/Rock incorporating heavy riffs\, soaring choruses\, and breakdowns with deep lyricism and real hip hop elements. \nIn January 2018\, Discrepancies signed to InVogue Records. They released “The Awakening” in March of 2018 and had over a million streams in the first week. The album had a strong release with the single “Not Alone” having a massive impact with the audience. “The Awakening” landed on Billboard charts peaking at #32 Alt New Artist and #108 Top New Artist and was featured in Alternative Press\, Metal Injection\, and more. In summer of 2018 the band played the Final Vans Warped Tour and followed it up with multiple short tours throughout the USA as well as Rock USA the following year. \nIn 2020 Discrepancies geared up for another album release only for the industry to shut down around the global pandemic. In January of 2020\, the band dropped their #1 single “Control” which still is the fastest growing single for the band and has since reached north of 3.5 million streams on Spotify alone. The band dropped 4 more singles in support of the album\, with hopes of the pandemic subsiding. “The Rise” released in October of 2020\, and was a big stepping stone for the band in terms of musical growth and development as a second LP. \nAlready in 2023\, the band has been touring heavily and is gearing up for their newest EP release with Invogue Records. They recorded the newest EP with Andrew Wade\, and feel it’s some of their strongest material to date. Their single “Recovery” is building at Rock Radio as well as on the Streaming platforms. Discrepancies have already played this year with Wolves At The Gate\, Catch Your Breath & Until I Wake. They have an upcoming tour with and then Outline In Color & VRSTY as well. They are gearing up for a busy touring schedule\, and have their sights set on taking their music to as many people as possible. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Arson City | Is a 5 piece rock band based out of Omaha\, NE that formed in late July of 2013 and has started out with some true fire right out of the gate.  Arson City is not just a musical project…. It is an all out concept and vision\, with each member of the band portraying their own character within the fictional landscape of Arson City\, as well as the supporters of the project\, known as the “Citizens”.  The Mayor\, The Doctor\, The Dealer\, The Con and The Enforcer makeup the basis of the project\, but Arson City is much more than just that.  Filled with violence\, greed\, corruption\, and a constant struggle within itself to maintain hope for those have none…. Each performance builds strength to those who need it\, and revenge for those seeking it.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Five AM | This Illinois based 4 piece isn’t your average pop-punk band. With an insatiable desire to push the limits between rock\, hip hop\, R&B\, and pop; this band unapologetically delivers catchy hooks soaked in liquid cool melodies. Known by their growing fanbase for their fun\, energetic live performances; it’s no doubt this band will be landing on your daily playlist for good. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMMON CHORD POLICIES: *Tickets* Advance tickets are only available online. SUMMARY:Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears with special guest Shane Guerrete in the Redstone Room at Common Chord
DESCRIPTION:Genre: American Blues\, Funk & Soul \nRecommended If You Like:  Rick James\, James Brown\, Howlin Wolf\, JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound\, Dan Auerbach\, Gary Clark Jr. \nDoors: 7:00pm / Show: 8pm \nTickets: $22 in advance / $25 day of show \nHeadliner: Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears \nSupporting Guest: Shane Guerrette \nSeating: General admission. Sonically inspired by the Hill Country blues\, cowpunk\, and southern soul of Stax\, the album charts new territory with a heavy stream of lyrical consciousness. \nEmbodying a deep repertoire of sounds and drawing from: the heavy grooves of Albert King\, the punked-up blues of R.L. Burnside\, the storytelling of Bobby “Blue” Bland\, and the soulfully layered horns of the Stones. \nNo one sound holds more weight than the next; all are all omnipresent throughout. When asked\, Lewis says he wanted to “make a more complex and reflective record” than he had before. Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears traverse a lifetime of physical and metaphysical experiences characterized by self reflection and conscious decision making\, prompting difficult questions and responding honestly. One thing is clear: Lewis pulls off a rare feat\, creating an informed\, “real blues” record. \nContinue Reading Bio. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMMON CHORD POLICIES:*Tickets*Advance tickets are only available online. The result is something both danceable and introspective: soulful vocals\, interweaving analog synths and shredding guitar all of which join forces under the banner of Dizgo. The band has played stand-out performances at festivals such as Peach Music Festival\, Summer Camp Music Festival\, Resonance Music Festival\, Werk Out Music Festival\, Sonic Bloom Music Festival\, and much more and has supported acts such as Goose\, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic\, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong\, Papadosio\, The Main Squeeze\, Aqueous\, Lespecial\, and more. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Supporting Artist: THE TEXTURES \n\nBased out of the Quad Cities Area\, The Textures are a six-piece band including Kelsey Lillion [Vocals]\, Justin Behn [Guitar]\, Ben Kays [Guitar]\, Justin “Fish” Fisher [Bass]\, Logan “Frog” Farber [Keyboards]\, and Kyle Goldsmith [Drums]. Their sound can be described as a convergence of different influences\, hearkening back to the eras of psychedelia\, funk\, disco\, rock n’ roll\, soul\, and much more. \nThe band’s mission is to craft diverse songs\, both written and improvisational\, which break the boundaries that separate musical genres. The 2020 release of their debut album\, Self Textured\, gave the group a taste for sharing their original music. Releasing their second studio album\, Shapes and Colors in May of 2023\, with their 3rd album on the way and set to release in 2024\, all while gearing up for another summer of live performances! \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMMON CHORD POLICIES: *Tickets* Advance tickets are only available online. Moore \nDave Moore is one of the great songwriters to come out of the state of Iowa.  Known for his elegant songwriting and instrumental prowess on blues guitar\, button accordion and harmonica he has become somewhat of a legend.  Coming of age in the late ’60s and early ’70s\, Dave enrolled in college only to drop out to follow a girlfriend down to Guadalajara\, Mexico.  Though the journey lasted only a few months\, it was to be the first of many travels in Latin America and totally altered his world view.  Returning to the States for the holidays in 1971\, his mother serendipitously left a harmonica in his Christmas stocking and he soon found that he could not quit playing it.  He spent the next few years traveling the Southwest and Northwest\, working an assortment of jobs (lumberyard worker\, fruit picker\, plumber’s assistant) – all the time getting deeper into music. \nAfter his western travels and another lengthy sojourn in Latin America (Colombia\, Ecuador\, Peru) he found that the college town of Iowa City had turned into quite the music scene.  Folk\,  blues\, and rock were spilling into the streets as music hangout began to pop up all over the city. \nAround this time\, he began to experiment with guitar and decided that he wanted to learn the instrument.  Inconspicuously\, he headed back to Mexico-this time to a town that has since become a home-away-from-home\, San Cristobal de las Casas.  With only a little plywood-topped Harmony 6-string\, he holed up with a box of blues tapes and took occasional lessons from a Chiapas guitarist with a passion for American ragtime. \nIn 1980 Dave returned to Iowa City and teamed up with local songwriter Greg Brown who was just beginning to develop a national reputation.  For the next few years Dave backed up Brown on recording projects\, extensive tours and several appearances on Garrison Keillor’s popular A Prairie Home Companion on NPR. \nIt was at this time Dave stumbled onto his other great musical passion\, the accordian.  Awestruck by an accordion album featuring Fred Zimmerle’s Trio San Antonio\, he traveled to Texas where he sought out the great masters of Conjunto music: Zimmerle\, Johnny Degallado\, and Santiago Jimenez\, Sr. (the legendary father of Flaco and Santiago\, Jr.).  All three men would give him lessons and encouragement on the 3-row button box. \nIn 1984 at a little folk festival\, Dave won a contest whose prize was free recording time in a studio.  He took the oppurtunity to record Jukejoints and Cantinas\, an album that brilliantly pulled together all of the American roots influences that had been stewing in him for years.  He passed its 14 sizzling blues and Conjunto tracks on to Bob Feldman of Red House Records\, who enthusiastically offered to put it out. \nThe release of Jukejoints… led to a National Endowment for the Arts grant that underwrote three intensive months in Tejas studying with accordion master Fred Zimmerle.  Occasionally sitting in with Fred’s band in the dance halls\, Dave found himself completely immersed in a major American regional music tradition.   Fred quickly became one of Dave’s closest friends and until his death\, the closest thing he had to a mentor. \nIn 1986 Garrison Keillor invited Dave to perform on A Prairie Home Companion and after frequent appearances\, he became the show’s band leader on tours to Alaska and Hawaii.  A year or two earlier he had quietly started writing his own song and in 1990 he released Over My Shoulder\, an 11-song collection that has become a cult classic. \nMoore was in preproduction of his third disc in 1994 when his wife lost a daughter in infancy.  He stopped playing for a while\, and when he did return\, preferred to stay closer to home and family.  Five years went by\, songs accumulated and\, in time\, a desire to return to recording and touring.  He had written an enormous number of chilling-to-the-bone songs based on his own experiences. \nIn mid 1998\, he announced that he was ready to record again.  Seeking a co-producer for the project\, he looked to Iowa City roots-rocker Bo Ramsey\, who had produced several discs for Greg Brown and had just finished touring in Lucinda Williams’ band.  Dave had long admired Bo’s work and instinctively felt he was the best man to guide the recording session. \nThe result was Breaking Down to 3\, an album that is considered his best ever.  Recorded with an all-Iowa band\, the songs are as breathtaking as they are stunning with vivid imagery drawn from the depth of his life experiences painting a picture of the quintessential American journey. \nSocial Media: https://www.facebook.com/davemooremusicianMusic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDrdPcvOyZ4 Rev. Peyton\, the Big Damn Band’s vocalist and world-class fingerstyle guitarist\, details bleak financial challenges on the songs “Ways and Means” and “Dirty Hustlin’.” He pines for in-person reunions with loved ones on “No Tellin’ When\,” and he pleads for celestial relief on the album-closing “Come Down Angels.” \nFar from a depressing listen\, Dance Songs lives up to its name by delivering action-packed riffs and rhythms across 11 songs. The country blues trio that won over crowds on more than one Warped Tour knows how to make an audience move. \nContinue Reading Bio. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMMON CHORD POLICIES:*Tickets*Advance tickets are only available online.
