Music at the Market

Local music at the Freight House Farmers Market returns in 2023!

Each weekend, we bring local musicians to the stage. This program creates more paying gigs for local musicians, while creating a performance opportunity at one of our region’s biggest cultural events.

Join us every Saturday and Sunday, May through October, as we bring local music to the Common Chord Stage at the Freight House!

This program is made possible with the partnership and support of the Freight House Farmers Market and the Riverfront Improvement Commission.

Play on the Common Chord Stage!

On Saturdays and Sundays, we hire local musicians to perform on the Common Chord stage. If you are interested in being considered for these gigs, please fill out the form.

Stage gigs are available for musicians or bands that already have some experience performing for crowds, and who have at least an hour-and-a-half of material ready for performance.

Originals and covers are welcome! All content must be family-friendly and suitable for public performance. A small portable PA system is provided at the stage, and is operated by Common Chord staff.

Note: Please only click the “Submit Form” button once.

You will receive a confirmation response from our staff within approximately 7  business days. If you have further questions or need to confirm your submission, send an email to: sryan@commonchordqc.org.

Our booking process for the Market stage is typically finalized 1-2 months in advance.

    Busking Opportunities

In addition to the paid gigs on the Common Chord stage, the Farmers Market provides opportunities for busking in the vendor lot. These opportunities are perfect for honing your skills, gaining more performing experience, and earning tips from the crowd!

“Busking” means playing on the street or in a public space for voluntary donations.

Only pre-approved and pre-scheduled performers are permitted at the Market, including buskers. If you are interested in this opportunity, please fill out the form and one of our staff will be in touch with you to learn more.

Originals and covers are welcome! All content must be family-friendly and suitable for public performance. Note: No sound system or PA is provided for buskers. Electricity may or may not be available at busking locations. Busking acts should generally be prepared for acoustic performance.

Note: Please only click the “Submit Form” button once.
