ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Yogev Shetrit – Drums and Compositions

Yogev Shetrit, an international composer and drummer, was born in 1978. Earned his BA in Musicology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Shetrit was the founder and member of the famous worldwide Coolooloosh band. Shetrit has performed with notable artists, including Chuchito Valdez, Tia Fuller, Arnie Lawrence, Paulo Morello, & Kevin Mahogany.

Shetrit, a composer at heart, created his trio in 2016 in order to play his original compositions. He recorded as a bandleader and composer his first studio album, “New Path”.    

Since then, the Yogev Shetrit Trio has performed, in over 30 countries, at some of the largest festivals & venues worldwide, including The International Panama Jazz Festival and The Kennedy Center, Washington, DC. Casa Del Jazz, Rome, Italy and more.

In addition, Shetrit has released two studio albums and one Live album, now he is currently working on his 3rd studio album.

Shetrit’s music contains original compositions that elegantly fuse traditional North African music, Gnawa, Andalusian music from his Moroccan heritage, along with contemporary Jazz and Mediterranean music.

Shetrit has performed and done workshops worldwide in Jazz Festivals and venues, including: Casa del Jazz, Italy. Iowa City Jazz Festival, Lubliner Jewish Fest, The 10th Bogotá Intl. Festival of Sacred Music & The 15th Book and Culture Festival, Medellín, Colombia, Bishkek Jazz Festival, Kyrgyzstan 2022, 2021 & 2018, Intl. Panama Jazz Fest, Intl. Jazz Fest in Guatemala, 2017 & 2018, Kazakhstan Expo 2017, Intl. Jerusalem Jazz Fest, Florida Intl.University, The 7th Intl. Delhi Jazz Fest, the District Library Auditorium, Aizawl 1st Intl. Jazz Fest, Shillong, U Soso Tham Auditorium, Intl. Red Sea Jazz Fest, Eilat, Israel, Almaty Jazz Fest in Kazakhstan, The Tashkent Jazz Fest in Uzbekistan, PAPJAZZ Fest in Haiti, 2019 & PAPJAZZ Fest, 2020, “Jazz Showcase” club in Chicago, The Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Minnesota, USA, The Placitas & NM Jazz included workshops at the JCC New Mexico & The Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater New Mexico U.S.A, Moscow at IGIMO and at the Igor Butman Jazz Club, Saint-Petersburg, solo concert and workshop, and performed also in NYC, Florida, Costa-Rica, Germany, Austria, Riga, Denmark, Cyprus, Poland and many more.

Education and experience:  
Shetrit studied at the Drummer’s Collective in NYC (2005) and received a full scholarship for studies at the Rimon school of Jazz and contemporary music (2006-7). He has been a music educator for more than 25 years and plays at large various worldwide projects on a regular basis. 

COMMON CHORD POLICIES:

TICKETS: Advance tickets are only available online. Tickets may be purchased at the door the day of the show, subject to availability. Tickets are non-transferable and may only be purchased directly from Common Chord.

RESERVED SEATING: General Admission, with no guaranteed seating except for reserved tables. For most shows, the Redstone Room features tables and chairs throughout the room. For guaranteed seating, a limited number of tables are available to be reserved. These may only be purchased in advance and are sold separately from tickets. You will need to add your General Admission tickets AND your Reserved Tables to the cart for purchase. Tables seat up to four people.

PHYSICAL ACCOMMODATIONS: If you require seating or a reserved space due to health or physical needs, you will need to purchase your General Admission ticket first and then email feedback@commonchordqc.org to reserve up to 2 seats.

AGE RESTRICTIONS: Most shows in the Redstone Room are all ages unless otherwise noted. Those under 19 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
